training as a way to learn
an experiment for 2026: one published thing per week, fifty-two in total — on top of a full-time senior engineering management job, running indebtio, and being married with four kids. courses where the topic earns the depth; articles for everything else.
i’m starting this from a standing position. not “here’s the body of work i’ve already done, let me write it up” — more “here’s a calendar, now i have to keep up with it.” the publishing forces the learning, not the other way round.
the bet: explaining is the learning
making training material — not consuming it, making it — is the way to actually learn the topics i’m putting on the calendar. this is the feynman technique reduced to a publishing schedule: writing a lesson forces the explanation into a shape — what order it goes in, which parts can be skipped, where the metaphor breaks. hand-waving collapses a lesson, so the writing doesn’t let me hand-wave. that’s the appeal. i don’t know yet if it’ll hold up over fifty-two weeks. that’s the experiment.
three pillars, three rooms
the publishes live across three portals, each with its own print. you should know which one you’re in within a second of landing on the page.
- /ai/ — the sandbox. agents, protocols, evals, the developer-productivity edge of llms. dark coal and amber, the lab. typescript-first. agentcore and agentic patterns are live; claude agent sdk, ai code review, streaming ai ui, llm evals, rag for code, webmcp are queued.
- /craft/ — the workshop. the engineer’s daily craft: typescript types in anger, the editor as a force multiplier, debugging as a discipline, refactoring under tests. cream paper, terracotta, monospace as the headline font. ai amplifies craft. it doesn’t replace it.
- /scale/ — the handbook. teams, delivery, ops. light paper, slate-blue, serif italic. team topologies is live; accelerate/dora, continuous delivery, platform engineering, incidents, strategy are coming.
three different aesthetics on purpose. /ai/ is the lab and reads like one. /craft/ is a workshop bench, dot grid and all. /scale/ is a field manual, set in a serif. one site, three rooms.
fifty-two is a number that respects itself — a missed week is visible, so is a half-finished course. so courses are the rare deep ones; articles fill the long tail. some weeks are an essay, written tight. that counts.
